The proposed transaction, still needs regulatory approval, will give Disney the ownership of 5,000 Marvel characters (which will be overseen by Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter)
Under the proposed deal Disney will pay $30 in cash and about three-quarters of a Disney share for each share of Marvel. The total value of the Disney stock issued as merger consideration based on its trading value at that time is not less than 40% of the total merger consideration. Based on the closing price of Disney August 28, Disney will pay approximately $4 billion for Marvel Entertainment.
“We believe that adding Marvel to Disney’s unique portfolio of brands provides significant opportunities for long-term growth and value creation,” -Robert Iger, president and CEO of Disney.
“Disney is the perfect home for Marvel’s fantastic library of characters given its proven ability to expand content creation and licensing businesses. This is an unparalleled opportunity for Marvel to build upon its vibrant brand and character properties by accessing Disney’s tremendous global organization and infrastructure around the world.” – Ike Perlmutter, Marvel’s Chief Executive Officer.

This movie looks hilarious…which isn’t surprising considering the actors lending their voices to the project: Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Will Arnett…and The Flight of The Concords Jemaine Clement. Oh and lets not forget that one of my favorite musicians Pharrell Williams worked on the music.
Despicable Me will hit theaters July 9th 2010.

Nope, I’m talking Jin-Roh. It’s out of the same mold of the Ghost in a Shell movie, except less techno-driven.
It’s about a kind of SWAT team officer, Kazuki, who gets involved with the sister of a terrorist. He was actually on duty and at the scene where the terrorist girl was killed. Because of his hesitation to kill her, she actually blows herself up with the bomb she was carrying, he gets sent back to basic training. That’s when he meets the terrorist’s sister and falls in love with her. Getting involved with the sister of a terrorist who you just busted doesn’t look good for your career as an officer. That’s where the conflict lies and also the government secretly spying on him.
Not a lot of action but the characters are well developed and are very human. So they will relate to the audience. I’m not a real big fan of these types of anime but it was worth watching. It is a kind of long movie and gets kind of confusing in the end. The animation is clean but looks older than an anime made in 1999. I would not recommend it for the casual anime fan, just us hardcore junkies.

Variety is reporting that Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way is working on a Gothic retelling of the classic story “Little Red Riding Hood”
David Leslie Johnson (Orphan) is writing the script.
The Brothers Grimm verison of the story is the most well known, but the story actually dates back to the Middle Ages. Older versions of the story are very dark, and in some the villain is a warewolf instead of a regular wolf.
