2012 Is Going To Be Snow White
There are two very different versions of the beloved fairy tale Snow White hitting theaters next year.
Relativity’s still untitled Snow White will be the first to hit theaters on March 16, 2012.
The Plot: An evil queen steals control of a kingdom and an exiled princess enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright in a spirited adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance and betrayal that will capture the imagination of audiences the world over.
The Cast: Julia Roberts as The Queen, Lily Collins as Snow White, Armie Hammer as Prince Alcott, Sean Bean as The King, and Nathan Lane as Brighton.
Universal’s Snow White and The Huntsman is a darker version of the classic tale and will be in theaters on June 1, 2012.
Synopsis: In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.
The breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale is from Joe Roth, the producer of Alice in Wonderland, producer Sam Mercer (The Sixth Sense) and acclaimed commercial director and state-of-the-art visualist Rupert Sanders.
It is amazing (and very obvious from the released images) how different this two films are from each other.
When movies try to be dark and realistic it often feels like they are just trying too hard, so I am leaning more towards Relativity’s film. I’ll have to wait until I see the trailers to know for sure which (if not both) film I pay to go see.

Fairy tales never go out of style. I didn’t see the “horror” flick version of little red riding hood but usually love ‘em all. Looking at the pictures I’m more interested in the first one, dude Sean Bean is in it, but like the idea of the second. Will be waiting for trailers too! Off to rewatch the Once Upon a Time pilot.
