In 1965, three young Israeli Mossad agents on a secret mission capture and kill a notorious Nazi war criminal. Now, thirty years later, a man claiming to be the Nazi has surfaced in the Ukraine and one of the former agents must go back undercover to seek out the truth.

The Debt stars Helen Mirren, Sam Worthington, Marton Csokas, Jessica Chastain, and Ciaran Hinds. It will be in theaters on December 29, 2010.

Avatar Sequel

It seems to be official…there will be another Avatar movie and according to Entertainment Weekly Sam Worthington has already signed on to reprise his role as Jake Sully.

EW has a quote from James Cameron himself stating he always saw Avatar as a trilogy: “There are even scenes in Avatar that I kept in because they lead to the sequel. It just makes sense to think of it as a two or three film arc, in terms of the business plan.”

Not sure how I feel about more Avatar movies. Yes Avatar is visually stunning (and I was blown away by what an amazing world James Cameron brought to life)…but the story was weak, I don’t see how there could be enough material for two more movies.

Clash of the Titans is a remake of the 1981 film and stars Sam Worthington,Pete Postlethwaite, Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton, Alexa Davalos, Ralph Fiennes, and Liam Neeson. It will be in theaters on March 26, 2010.

Avatar Excitement

Like a lot of people my excitement for Avatar began as soon as I heard about the project. That excitement only grew when I heard about the reaction from sneak peaks at CinExpo, and Comic Con. I was devastated when the 25 minute preview sold out before I could get my hands on tickets.

But then something unexpected happened…the trailer was released online, and I was left wondering: Why was I (and countless others) so excited for this movie?

Is it just me or does everything feel fake? I knew there would be a ton of CG what I wasn’t expecting was an animated movie. Some of the scenes do look beautiful and will no doubt be stunning in 3D, but is there any substance to the story or is it just 300 million dollars of effects?

Don’t get me wrong I am going to stay as optimistic and open minded as possible, maybe if I keep my expectations low I’ll find that I am pleasantly surprised come December 18th…

But I am left wondering: If this weren’t James Cameron’s first movie since Titanic, if it weren’t in 3D, if there wasn’t so much secrecy surrounding the movie, would we have been as excited, and do my “Avatar” hesitations put me in the minority or the majority?
