From the gods of anime, Osamu Tezuka (Astroboy) Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira) and director Rintaro (Captain Harlock) comes one of the greatest anime movies ever.

One of the most beautiful anime movies I have ever seen. Rivaling the great Ghibli Studios works. If you are an anime fan you have had to have seen this film.

Metropolis is a world where humans and robots live and work together. The story is so dense and groundbreaking there is nothing like it. Kind of like Blade Runner mixed with Pinocchio. It follows a girl robot, Kima, who is the centerpiece of the Ziggurat, a skyscraper that will allow humankind to expand its power throughout the Earth. During a fire in the middle of a riot, she is rescued by a boy named Kenichi. They fall into the sewer levels of the city where they bond. Kenichi’s uncle searches for them and when they are found, Kima reveals to Kenichi that she is a robot.

Kima is taken to the Ziggurat where she is to be the main source of its power. She does not want to do it and Kenichi tries to rescue her. I won’t spoil the ending, but it is incredible. Some of the best animation I have ever seen.

Definitely a must own, and hopefully it comes out in Blu-ray so I can add to my collection.
