It must be real cool being a club DJ, playing other people’s music, traveling the world, working the hottest dance clubs in town and making the club goers happy with your dope mixes. Or perhaps, it would be better if you were a DJ that can sing & write your own songs, that way you can have other club DJ’s play your music all over the world & make the club goers dance to your tune.
Well it seems like UK’s up & coming DJ Yasmin has decided to take the latter route, and it seems to be serving her well so far with her newly released song On My Own from her forthcoming album due out sometime in January 2011. DJ Yasmin or Yasmin as she will likely be known from here on out, made an “official” music video for her song after she was unhappy with the initial video that was made for On My Own. I guess you could say that she decided to remix it (that’s a DJ joke).
Interestingly though, there’s a 3rd video for her song On My Own and this is the one that I like. It’s of her singing live from Maida Vale (a famous studio in London) and I feel it shows her raw singing talent the best. Yasmin’s “official” video is more eye candy than anything else, which does appeal to a wider audience and is getting most of the hits on YouTube, but I think you might appreciate my choice of Yasmin singing live at Maida Vale.
