Universal Pictures has purchased the rights to Melissa Marr’s bestselling “Wicked Lovely”. Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands) has been hired to adapt the screenplay.
The story follows high school junior Aislinn, who along with her grandmother has the ability to see faeries. Aislinn hides her ability because in this wold faeries don’t like being seen by humans, and tend to be cruel. One day Aislinn finds herself being stalked by two faeries who can take on the human form.
One of her stalkers turns out to be the Summer King, who has spent centuries looking for his Queen. He is certain that Aislinn is that Queen, so he shows up as a new student at her high school, unaware that she can see his true identity.
Wicked Lovely is the first book in an ongoing series (the fourth book will be released next year) so if the first film does well there will probably be more.
