According to the Hollywood Reporter Zack Synder has cast Diane Lane as Martha Kent in his version of Superman. He had this to say about the casting news: ”We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”
The only other official casting news has been that of Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel. However there are rumors the two most notable being Viggo Mortensen as General Zod (which due to his filming schedule is looking less and less likely) and Kevin Costner being referred to as a “person of interest” for the part of Jonathan Kent.
There is a reason Zack Synder is one of my favorite directors…all the casting news and rumors sound like solid picks to me. Although I am still not sure how I feel about Cavill as Superman, I guess I should watch a couple of episodes of The Tudors to put my mind at ease, because it seems fans of that show are thrilled with his casting.
