According to Variety Chris Evans has accepted the Role of Steve Rogers in The First Avenger: Captain America (although neither Paramount or Marvel have confirmed the news).
Chris Evans is not a new comer to comic movies, he played Johnny Storm in both Fantastic Four films, and will be seen next in DC Entertainment’s “The Loosers”. According to Variety’s report Chris has signed on for three films and a part in the Avengers feature film.
