If you can, rent the documentary Toypunks. It gives you the history and people behind the designer vinyl toy craze including the artist behind the first designer vinyl toy “Bounty Hunter”. Toypunks Vol. 2 seems like it’s going to feature artist and creators of Kaiju vinyl figures which I will be looking forward to. It so happens that locally at The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens there will be a history of Kaiju Japanese vinyl toys with Professor James B. Levy; an avid collector of Japanese vinyl toys, and Mark Nagata; owner of the largest collection of Ultraman toys outside of Japan. We’ll try to attend this event in October and see if we can take some pictures and post them up for you here on Comi Girl.

127 Hours stars James Franco, Amber Tamblyn, Kate Mara, and Lizzy Caplan. It will be in theaters on November 5, 2010.

As children, we tend to have crazy imaginations making up any character we can think of and giving them odd names, that’s what Axe Cop is. So it’s refreshing to see someone having the great idea of trying to take a child’s crazy imagination and putting it into a comprehensive story that we could all enjoy and find humor in. So to Axe Cop, I say bravo…you make me feel like a kid again.

Jack Huston – This 27 year old London native is staring as Richard Harrow in HBO’s new series Boardwalk Empire. If you’ve seen him lately then I take it you love Twilight, because Jack had the role of playing Royce King II. Boardwalk Empire premieres on Sunday Sep 19, at 9pm on HBO.

Katy Mixon – I didn’t know who she was until today but after reading this post you’ll probably want to get to know her better too, but it won’t be from her role as Victoria Flynn in the upcoming sitcom Mike & Molly. She became famous for another role years back and it’s too bad American TV doesn’t allow women to bare their beautiful assets, a real, real shame. Mike & Molly premieres Monday Sep 20, at 9:30pm on CBS.

Daniel Dae Kim – Jin-Soo Kwok as we all know him from “Lost” stars in the upcoming CBS remake of Hawaii Five-O. Expect some shirtless scenes from Mr. Kim as he portrays Chin Ho Kelly. Hawaii Five-O premieres Monday Sep 20, at 10pm on CBS.

Grace Park – Appearing alongside Daniel Dae Kim in Hawaii Five-O is Sci-fi/Adventure star Grace Park. She has the role of playing detective Kona Kalakaua in the show, so fans of Mrs. Park will have plenty of her to see.

James Wolk – Hello ladies, look at your man, now back to me…if there’s a man that could take the place of Isaiah Mustafa it will probably be James. He stars as a two-timing husband that’s out to get his father-in-law’s money or maybe he’s out to be with his girl on the side, who knows really but Fox is betting they will have the attention of the ladies with this star every Monday at 9pm. James Wolk as Robert Allen in Lonestar premiering Sep 20.

Adrianne Palicki and Eloise Mumford – Hot as a blond but even hotter as a brunette, Adrianne Palicki will be apperaring as Cat Thatcher in Lone Star. Look out for her in the remake of “Red Dawn” this fall. Blond cutie Eloise Mumford will be playing Lindsey in Lonestar.

Ian Anthony Dale – This multi-ethnic hottie is staring as Simon Lee in the government conspiracy show The Event. He’s starred in various TV shows, and most recently appeared in two live action video game movies, “Mortal Kombat: Rebirth” & “Tekken.” The Event premieres on Monday Sep 20, at 9pm on NBC.

Wesley A. Ramsey – From soap operas to crime dramas Wesley is everywhere. Catch him this fall on Monday’s at 9pm on The Event.

Taylor Cole – Who’s got great cheek bones? Mrs. Taylor Cole that’s who. Staring as Vicky Wallace in The Event.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Boris Kodjoe – These two beautiful people, play ex-spies that so happen to be married in J.J. Abrams new show Undercovers. British beauty Gugu Mbatha-Raw is famous for her role as Tish Jones in the sci-fi series “Doctor Who” and Boris Kodjoe is famous for being, well…Boris. Standing at 6’3 this former model was named by “People” magazine in 2002 as one of the “50 Most Beautiful People in the World.” And while Boris has taken on various acting roles, most noticeably playing Damon Carter in the Showtime series “Soul Food” you can also see him in theaters Sep 10, playing a character named “Luther” in Resident Evil: Afterlife. Undercovers premieres Wednesday Sep 22, at 8pm on NBC.

Jurnee Smollett – Staring alongside Jim Belushi and Jerry O’Connell in the show The Defenders, Jurnee plays Lisa Tyler an exotic dancer turned attorney in a Las Vegas law firm that’s headed by Jim & Jerry’s characters. The Defenders premieres Wednesday Sep 22, at 10pm on CBS.

Daniella Alonso and Jaime King – Daniella & Jaime both star in ABC’s new show My Generation. Daniella plays Brenda Serrano and was previously known for making guest appearances as Anna Taggaro on the CW’s “One Tree Hill” and she will be making a future appearance as Matthews in the horror flick “Re-Kill”. Jaime King plays Jacqueline Vachs in My Generation and become known for taking on the role of Goldie and Woody in “Sin City” and if you were a fan of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” TV series, she was the voice of the character Aurra Sing. My Generation premieres Thursday Sep 23, at 8pm on ABC.

Maggie Q – An international movie star who has shared the screen with Jackie Chan, Bruce Willis and Tom Cruise, Maggie now has the distinction of taking the lead role in the CW’s Nikita. Expect to see Maggie Q in movies shortly with the upcoming “Priest” and perhaps “Mission Impossible IV” reprising her role as Zhen. Nikita premieres Thursday Sep 9, at 9pm on CW.

Lyndsy Fonseca – Also staring alongside Maggie Q in Nikita is Lyndsy’s character Alex; a troubled young woman who now leads a double life in Nikita. Lyndsy recently portrayed Katie Deauxma in the movie “Kick-Ass” and will be reprising that role in “Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall.”

Boardwalk Empire – This historical drama is set in the 1920’s and explores the development of Atlantic City and the rise of organized crime. I’ve seen the previews for this before episodes of True Blood and although I don’t care for gangster stories (seen enough of those) fans of Terence Winter (Sopranos writer & producer), Martin Scorsese and Nelson Johnson’s book, Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City (which the HBO series is based on), should find it enjoyable. Premiering Sunday Sep 19, on HBO at 9pm.

Lone Star – A Texas con-man who leads a secret double life, married & has a girlfriend all while scheming to take over his father-in-law’s thriving oil business. Sounds like an oil tycoons ordinary life to me, but this show could very well be a hit, have you seen the cast? An attractive bunch if you ask me. Premiering Monday Sep 20, on Fox at 9pm.

The Event –A government cover-up and it might have something to do with aliens, fellow conspiracy theorist and believers of aliens, this show is for you. Premiering Monday Sep 20, on NBC at 9pm.

Hawaii Five-O – (trumpet) Da da da da da daaaa, Da da da da da doooh, Da da da da da daaaa, Da da da da da doooh, etc, etc ,etc. I was too young to remember plot points and stories of the original TV show, but I do remember Jack Lord (the star of the show) and perhaps one of the most unforgettable TV theme songs ever! The Hawaii Five-O remake stars Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan, but I’m not watching it. The original ran for 12 seasons, 12 seasons! Starring Jack Lord, Jack motherf***ing Lord! I’m not going to disrespect the original by supporting the remake, regardless of who’s starring in it. Premiering Monday Sep 20, on CBS at 10pm.

Chase – A drama about one of the biggest banks in the U.S. and how the CEO’s conspire to send you to the poor house…oh wait do I have the wrong TV show? Chase is actually a drama about Annie Frost (Kelli Giddish), a U.S. Marshal Deputy, and her high-priority fugitive-apprehension team that trace down dangerous criminals in South Texas. Are there dangerous criminals in South Texas? If you’re from Texas, Email me with your contact info, cause I’ve got a hot blond I want you to meet. Premiering Monday Sep 20, on NBC at 10pm.

Detroit 1-8-7- This crime drama hasn’t aired yet and already there’s a fan site dedicated to it. Will it be a hit for the city? Based on a post by bwandersee on the fan site (detroit187.net) the “Detroit City Council is worried about the effect this show will have on the city’s image.” Maybe the city council could follow the image that Miami (Florida) is setting. “Yeah there’s crime, and our government is corrupt, but so what? We have a crazy night life yo!” Premiering Tuesday Sep 21, on ABC at 10pm.

Undercovers – Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw play husband & wife that have been retired as C.I.A agents, but when a friend goes missing they get thrust back into the espionage world. J.J Abrams and Josh Reims are the creators of this show, and with the on screen chemistry of the two stars Boris & Gugu, this show could be a hit. Premiering Wednesday Sep 22, on NBC at 8pm.

$#*! my dad says – WTF! I need to start a Twitter sitcom immediately. There’s over a million followers that like what 29 year old Justin post about his 74 year-old-dad’s rambling and apparently a CBS executive was one of the loyal followers, hence the show Premiering Thursday Sep 23, on CBS at 8:30pm. Starring William Shatner as the old man that loves to curse.

Nikita – Here’s a show that may appeal to the tween crowd. A super secret elite government agency recruits and trains young people to be assassins. Nikita is the only one that leaves the super secret agency. Omg! doesn’t anyone like hanging around tweens anymore? Find out when this show Premiers Thursday Sep 09, on the CW at 9pm.

Blue Bloods – This is a drama that stars Tom Selleck as the New York Chief of Police and Donnie Walberg as his son who is also a New York City Police Detective. There’s also Bridget Moynahan who portrays a N.Y. Assistant D.A. and is the only woman in the family. This seems like a show that can do well because cops and the city of New York goes hand in hand like hot butter goes on toast. Premiering Friday Sep 24, on CBS at 10pm.

Outlaw – A court room drama that stars Jimmy Smits as a conservative Supreme Court Justice with a gambling problem that resigns from the bench to start his own law firm in order to help people. Conan O’Brian is one of the producers of this show and he will be competing against Blue Bloods in the same time slot. Conan understands how to compete and what it takes to win, so adding Jimmy to the show may give him an advantage over Blue Bloods. Premiering Friday Sep 17, on NBC at 10pm.

Primetime TV’s Sexy 17

While I figure out a way of incorporating learning Katakana and Hiragana into my busy schedule, a few weeks ago I found this music video and while I was digging the visuals & the sound I just wasn’t too sure how I was going to find out who the artist were but low & behold, after doing some research I was able to get the info I was looking for.

0.8 Byou To Shogeki (0.8 Seconds and Shock) is comprised of the duo Tadaomi (guy) and J.M (girl) and they consider themselves, Psychedelic / Indie / Hardcore as described on their MySpace profile. This video, Beatnik Killers was directed/filmed (I’m not too sure on the details) by SizTokyo. The video was on his Vimeo profile and it has his trademark style based on his other work so I’m sure he was the director or the filmmaker. Thankfully, love is not the only universal language the all humans understand, so if you enjoy music just hit the play button… Katakana and Hiragana be dammed.

DETECTIVE COMICS and BATMAN and BATMAN AND ROBIN will continue to feature Dick Grayson as Batman and Damian as Robin. While BATMAN INC. and BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT will feature Bruce Wayne (in a new costume) as the capped crusader.

Dick Grayson is one of my favorite comic book characters (and is without a doubt my comic book crush), so I might not be completely partial here, but I ♥ him as Batman and really enjoy how the dynamic between him and Damian as evolved, so I am super excited about this news! Although I am sure there are some die hard Batman fans out there that are not too happy right now…
