…because today Twitter was all a buzz with this Colgate ad that was seen in some of DC Comic’s releases last week:

At first I was appalled, not by the picture, but by people calling it Sexist…then I wondered are people calling it sexist because of the the depiction of Superman & Lois kissing or because of “Yeah He Aced It” or “Celebrating 75 Years of the Hero Getting The Girl”? I wasn’t really too sure, because unlike a lot of female comic book fans, I don’t read into stuff like that.

In fact that depiction of Lois and Superman kissing on the moon is some of my favorite comic book art, as is evidenced by the fact we have it framed with the All Star Superman action figures reenacting the scene in our bedroom…

I am still not too sure what everyone is riled up about…Lois & Clark are one of comic’s longest running couples them kissing is always beautiful, and ads are supposed to make you stop and take notice…then again I am not your average female comic book fan, if I were there would be no Comi Girl.

Remember that Mary Jane statue of her washing Spider-Man’s costume in the sink & how everyone was screaming sexist…I have a secret I kind of liked that statue.

Art is subjective, and I have yet to come across a piece of artwork in a comic or manga that makes me feel degraded. No, I will never look like Power Girl or She Hulk, but guess what “The Cameraman” will never look like Dick Grayson or Clark Kent either & I don’t hear the guys complaining.
