Anyone who reads my posts knows I am a DC girl, so Marvel fans may not agree with this at all…but Fear itself sounds a lot like Marvel’s version of Blackest Night, and here are a few of the reasons why.
1. “Anchored by a seven-issue limited series, Fear Itself will involve the entire Marvel Universe” The only difference I see here is 7 issues instead of Blackest Night’s 8 issues.
2. “Fear, above all else, is a great motivator,” said Quesada. “There’s no shortage of charlatans, tyrants or despots ready to stoke the flames. All they need is a spark.” A Black Lantern could feed off of, and exploit the tiniest hint of emotion.
3. “Set during World War II, the story revolves around Captain America and the Invaders doing battle with the Red Skull. Deep in the history of the Marvel Universe, a secret lurks that unlocks the first key to Fear Itself.” The events of Blackest Night happened when the power of the Black Lantern was unleashed on Black Hand.
For those who haven’t read Blackest Night or are die hard Marvel fans you can pick up Ed Brubaker’s prologue in March, and start saving your money now, because there are sure to be tie-ins galore with a story this big!
