In 2010 DC Comics will release SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE and BATMAN: EARTH ONE. A new original ongoing series told in graphic novel form.
The Earth One series will revisit Superman’s & Batman’s first years, retold on a new earth with an all new continuity
SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE will be written by J. Michael Straczynski and penciled by Shane Davis.
BATMAN: EARTH ONE, will be written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Gary Frank.

Another retelling? If DC’s goal was to bring in new readers, I’d might be able to buy into this series, it would seem ideal; iconic characters, not a lot of continuity to wade thru,affordable…oh, waitaminute, affordable? Obviously I mispoke where thats concerned. Unless DC is going to put out the cheapest graphic novels ever, this is gonna cost, so much for the newer reade, huh?
Well since it would appear as if DC is going to stick with the audince that is already converted, it would seem that the 1st order of business would be not to give us a slieghtly tweaked regurgitation of the same ol’ same ol’. The crap that was Stan lee’s Just Imagine DC series was, he at least had the insight to make the civillian identities different
lf this goes the way l think it will, what a missed oppurtunity by DC to snag newer / younger readers, only to squeeze more money from the status quo!!

When I first heard about Earth One I was excited esp when I saw that two of my favorite writers where going to be a part of it (and I would love to see Geoff take on Batman). But then I started REALLY thinking about “a new earth” and “new continuity” and I got this horrible feeling that 10 years from now we are going to be reading “Ultimate Crisis” (which will no doubt be even worse than Finial Crisis) where they go in and try to fix everything that happened in Earth One. Needless to say I am not all that excited about the series anymore.
