Now that the dust has settled and DC has announced all 52 comic books that will be rebooted and renumbered I am left trying to figure out what my new pull list will look like.

As I mentioned earlier I am not going to report on all 52 titles, just the ones I feel strongly about. Below is a list of what titles I am excited about, and a couple I am not too sure about yet.

Here is my pull list:

Justice League written by Geoff Johns art by Jim Lee, and Scott Williams • Aquaman with Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis- Geoff Johns is one of my favorite writers and I love both Jim Lee and Ivan Reis’ artwork.

Green Lantern written by Geoff Johns art by Doug Mahnke & Christiam Almy- When you think Green Lantern you think Geoff Johns. I am not 100% sold on the other three Lantern books, but I am leaning towards giving them all a shot (Tony Bedard is a great writer so I am sure his book will be a good read).

Green Lantern Corps written by Peter J. Tomasi, Art by Fernando Pasarin & Scott Hanna

Green Lantern: The New Guardians Written by Tony Bedard art by Tyler Kirkham & Batt

Red Lanterns Written by Peter Milligan art by Ed Benes & Rob Hunter

The Flash story and artwork by Francis Manapul & Brian Buccellato- I LOVE Francis Manapul’s art style and I am very excited to see what kind of writer he is.

Green Arrow written by JT Krul artwork by Dan Jurgens- I don’t know maybe my love of Green Arrow has something to do with Smallville, whatever the case Olly has been a constant on my pull list and will continue to be. I know based on JT Krul’s run on Teen Titans that The Emerald Archer is in good hands.

All Batman Books are always on my pull list, but this time some of them will be left off (Batwing?! and I am not a huge fan of Batwoman).

Batman Written by Scott Snyder art by Greg Capullo

Detective Comics story and art by Tony S. Daniel

Batman and Robin Written by Peter J. Tomasi art by Pat Gleason

Batman: The Dark Knight Written by David Finch art by David Finch & Jay Fabok

Birds of Prey Written by Duane Swierczynski art by Jesus Saiz. When you think Birds of Prey two names come to mind Gail Simone and Oracle (will Wendy Harris be the new Oracle?), without either it will be interesting to see out this book turns out.

Catwoman Written by Judd Winick art by Guillem March. Selina Kyle is one of my favorite comic book characters, I am so happy she is getting another monthly tittle!

Batgirl Written by Gail Simone art by Ardian Syaf & Vicente Cifuentes. I am so exited for this one I wrote a whole article about it.

Nightwing Written by Kyle Higgins art by Eddy Barrows. Dick is my comic book crush and I LOVED him as Batman, so while I am exicted to see him get his own book, I am also a little disappointed…and bring the blue back!

Hawk and Dove Written by Sterling Gates art by Rob Liefeld. I have really enjoined reading and getting familar with Hawk and Dove during Gail Simone’s current run on Birds of Prey. Sterling Gates is another writer whose work I enjoy, so I am really looking forward to this one.

Wonder Woman Written by Brian Azzarello art by Cliff Chiang. While I am not thrilled with the cover art, it is still Wonder Woman, and for me she is always a must read.

As with Batman, all Superman books are on my pull list, and (unlike Batman) all will continue to be.

Action Comics Written by Grant Morrison art by Rags Morales

Superman: The Man of Tomorrow Written by George Perez art by Jesus Merino

Supergirl Written by Michael Green & Mike Johnson art by Mahmud Asrar. Supergirl is an interesting book. I have read the entire current run, but I haven’t always enjoined it. When there is a good team on the book it is a great read, unfortunately this book (more so than others I read) seems to get a lot of lack luster teams, sometimes the story is amazing with not so great artwork and sometimes both fall short. Hopefully Green, Johnson, and Asrar will do Kara some justice.

Superboy Written by Scott Lobdell art by R.B. Silva & Rob Lean

Suicide Squad Written by Adam Glass art by Marco Rudy. I had no intention of continuing to read the Suicide Squad…until I read that Harley Quinn was a member! How awesome does she look on the cover?

There are other books that I am still on the fence about: Dc Universe Presents, The Savage Hawkman, Captain Atom, I, Vampire, Voodo are all maybes.

The Fury of Firestorm is a very strong mabye…if only because of Gail Simone and Ethan Van Sciver.

Red Hood and The Outlaws this book seems like the new version of the Outsiders, a book I loved when the team was led by Nightwing…we will see how this one turns out.

Well that is my list (I was really hoping it would be a bit shorter), what will be on your pull list?

DC has been really cryptic with FlashPoint. All they are really saying is that everything we know will change in a flash, and that Geoff Johns is writing it…

The Source has been hinting at, and announcing tie-in books for weeks now, but I didn’t realize the enormity of it until I was flipping through Previews. There are twenty pages of FlashPoint tie-ins solicited this month!

I am still trying to figure out what, if any books I should read (I still get upset every time I am reminded of the short box in storage filled with nothing but Finial Crisis books). I am pretty sure that I will at least subscribe to the main title, since Geoff is writing it, and it is only five issues. Although there is NO WAY I will purchase all twenty tie-ins, I do have to say some of them sound intriguing.

Below is a list of the tie-ins, each will be three issues.

Booster Gold (the main title ties into Flashpoint)- Booster knows that the Flashpoint world is not his, but how does he make things right?

Batman Knight of Vengeance- He spends his days running Wayne Casinos

Secret Seven- One of them will betray them all

Abin Sur- He survived the crash

The World of FlashPoint- Everything changed in a flash, but how?

Emperor Aquaman- He will drown the world, then rule it

Death Stroke and the Cruse of the Ravager- He will stop at nothing to find his lost treasure

Frankenstein and the Creatures of the Unknown- They can’t survive unless they find their maker

Citizen Cold- He loves someone he should not

Wonder Woman and the Furies- If she can’t have the world-no one will

Deadman and the Flying Graysons- For their last performance-an escape act

Legion of Doom Staring Heatwave- They have to kill the president

Lois Lane and the Resistance- She is ready to reveal the Amazon’s secret

The Outsider- He won’t join the war (it could dirty his new suit)

Kid Flash Lost Staring Bart Allen- Where is he, or should we say when?

Project Superman- They experimented on him in a lab for years

Hal Jordon- He never got the ring

Grood of War- Africa belongs to him

Reverse Flash- He is more powerful than ever

Green Arrow Industries- He makes his money from war

The Canterbury Cricket- His power his is curse

Like I said some of these sound intriguing. Abin Sur and Hal Jordon are both on my list, so is Project Superman.

Lois Lane is a great character, and how often do we get to see her in her own book (plus I love the Eddy Nunez’s cover), but it seems that Lois Lane and the Resistance will only make sense if you also read Wonder Woman and the Furies (that is how they get you isn’t it), so I am still debating that book.

Secret Seven would be a definite for me, if Gail Simone was writing it.

Since my Super Hero crush is Dick Grayson, Deadman and the Flying Graysons is very tempting.

I couldn’t care less about the other thirteen books, although I am sure Flash fans will be happy with a lot of them.

What are your thoughts/feelings on FlashPoint? Are you excited about it, are you going to be selective in your choices (if so which ones will be reading?), or are you going to shell out over $200 and get all the books? It will be interesting to see what the sales are like for this one.

The deadliest thing on this planet is not man, animal, or even machine, it is a disease, one that has touched everyone’s life in some way, shape, or form. We have no control over it, fear makes us whisper its name: Cancer…it is not something anyone likes to talk about, the last place you would expect to read about it is in a comic book, yet that is just what Ross Mackintosh with his book Seeds.

Seeds tells the story of Ross’ father’s diagnosis of cancer and his eventual death at its hands. It is a very raw book in every way.

The artwork is simple. I am not normally a fan of black and white comics, but in this case, with this story, it is perfect. The illustrations don’t take away from the narrative, they add to the sense of darkness one faces when having to deal with death. The panels are more like snap shots of moments in time, than artwork accompanying a story. Some of my favorite panels where the simplest; a phone ringing in the middle of the night, a son washing his hands before walking into his father’s hospital room.

Ross was every honest and open when writing this book. I felt like I was there with him experiencing his shock, fear, memories, laughter, and sadness. He even shares with the audience the moment he decided to write a comic book, and why it had to be hand drawn.

You don’t have to share Ross’ beliefs in the hereafter, or grieve the same way he did to appreciate this book, and to share in the emotion of it (I found myself teary eyed more than once).

Seeds will be in comic book shops in April, the Diamond preorder code is – FEB110891 F SEEDS GN.

A portion of the book’s proceeds will be donated to Cancer charities in both the US and UK.It is definitely a book to pick up if you have ever lost someone from this disease.

It is a pretty depressing story, one that you don’t often find in comic book form, but it is also a story that everyone can relate to. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been touch by this disease in some way. I personally know too many people who have lost their battle with cancer and even more who are still fighting it.

COM.X hopes “that such a book might provide some modicum of comfort and support to others touched by this tragic disease.” Seeds will be available for pre-order in February and is scheduled to be released in April. A portion of the book’s proceeds will be donated to Cancer charities in both the US and UK.

I love Hal Jordon and enjoyed Blackest Night and I am enjoying Brightest Day so far, but it is a little harder for me to get into the rest of the Green Lantern Corps, so I don’t see myself reading a monthly title focused on the Red Lanterns.

I do however think the first story arc will be interesting and insightful, so I might pick up the first TPB but don’t think it will be on my monthly pull list.

For more on the book and Peter’s plans for it check out The Source’s story.

If you were an attendee at this year’s New York Comic Con, then you probably picked up a copy of Com.X’s preview book. Unfortunately we did not make the show this year, but the guys at Com.X were kind enough to send us a copy of the preview book, which contains some amazing artwork, and as you would expect from Com.X some very original stories. Below is a sneak peek at the three titles that caught my eye the most.

You can visit Com.X’s website for more information, and check back here for interviews with the creators as their book release dates approach.

Passions Requiem-Written by Brian Cowden with art by Jonathan Lam and music by Rolfe Kent.

You read the above right, this comic book comes with its own soundtrack! Passions Requiem explores new areas of comic book publishing.

Sarah’s life is safe, structured, and unfulfilled. Following a brutal assault, she meets Adam, a mysterious loner. Their meeting releases emotions in her she never new existed as he takes her on a fantastic intense journey, which awakens and unleashes their deepest passions.

Post Mort’em- Created and written by Andi Ewington with concept art by Ivan Koritarev.

Sometimes even Death needs a vacation.

What if Death decides he needs a vacation…and takes it by inhabiting the body of a recently deceased superhero?

Death decides he wants to try saving souls instead of reaping them. Along with his trusty sidekick, a back-talking Skull called Seymour, Death attempts to help people in his own ‘doesn’t quite get it’ way, leading to often-unpredictable results. I mean, how do you rescue someone when your very touch is death?

“I’m delighted that com.x has seen the potential in my inane ramblings beyond my work on ‘45’ and its spin offs,” said creator Andi Ewington.

Average Joe – Written and created by long time Ain’t It Cool News team member Rob Patey, with art by Stephen Andrade.

In 1938 an alien known as “The One” landed on Earth, infecting humanity with powers beyond our wildest imagination and irrevocably changing the course of history. Forty years later he left as abruptly as he arrived; leaving a legacy no one can escape from.

Now in 2011, whilst The One’s children have become slaves to their powers, a threat looms from beyond our galaxy, and one cop from Philadelphia needs to decide whether he will continue to be an Average Joe or accept that even with marginal power comes the greatest responsibility.

“When I started reviewing for Ain’t It Cool about three years ago I noticed a prevailing and worrisome trend in the medium; imagination was being heavily sacrificed for the all mighty dollar. Less and less I see creators asking how fantastic can we make a piece, for, will this piece translate well into other mediums?’ said Rob Patey. “Average Joe is my answer to creating a great comic first and then letting the other mediums figure out how it will translate. To keep the comic medium alive we must allow our imaginations to trump what can be done with computer generated graphics. Com.X shared that same vision, so when it came time to choose my publisher, that shared vision made it no choice at all.”

It seems I am not the only one, DC has decided to make it into a monthly title…that’s right starting in January you will be able to get a monthly fix of Batman Beyond!

Adam Beechen and Ryan Benjamin will continue as the creative team on the book. Now they just need to bring the cartoon back ,or maybe turn it into one of the DC Animated features…

For one member it is absolutely worth it, but for another, this is the worst possible thing that can happen.”

“This is my chance to show people why the original, [John] Byrne-era Alpha Flight team is so popular and beloved.”

Normally I wait for Diamond Distributors Previews to look over advanced solicites and I try to stay away from too much information (if I already know everything about an issue, what is the point of reading it?). But WHITE. LANTERN. BATMAN. I had to stop and take notice. And I was rewarded with an amazing David Finch cover to Brightest Day & nothing else, not even an issue number (all the Source says is 13-14 ), but it was enough to put a smile on my face, on a Monday (which isn’t always an easy task), so I figured I would share it with you guys.

It was announced at San Diego Comic Con that there would be a new Batman title “Batman Inc.” while I am sure there are a ton of Batman fans out there that were thrilled to hear the news, I was not one of them. Why? Two words, Grant Morrison.

I know Grant is considered a genius in the comic book world, but I just don’t get it and after Final Crisis, I don’t think I want to. I Loved Paul Dini’s “Heart of Hush” storyline in Detective Comics, Grant Morrison’s Batman R.I.P…not so much.

Enough of my ranting on to Batman Inc.

Grant Morrison will be the writer of this new monthly series and Yanick Paquette will serve as the artist. The story begins in Batman The Return. David Finch’s cover and tweak to Batman’s costume has caught some eyes, he brought back the yellow oval.

The series will begin in October, and promises the unexpected.

“This brand-new monthly series starring Batman and an unexpected supporting cast is sure to shock and surprise!”-BATMAN Group Editor Michael Marts.

Below is Yanick Paquette’s first cover to Batman Inc. Head over to The Source for more on this series.
